Tae Kwon do is a Korean martial art that will improve your fitness, strength, flexibility, self-confidence, self - defence skills, co-ordination ....and much more! We have clubs in Leicester, Loughborough, Syston and Leicester Forest East. Men, women & children train together in a safe environment and help and encourage each other to develop. We also have numerous social events and get-togethers. James Freer has been a martial artist for over 25 years, and in that time has produced national and world champions...and currently has over 100 black belts! Sheryl Freer represents the TAGB at Rotary Club 100th anniversary, in front of thousands, including world leaders!!

The TAGB (Tae Kwon-do Association of Great Britain) was honoured to perform two demonstrations at the opening ceremonies of the 100th anniversary international convention - which was held at the NEC, Birmingham on Sunday 21st June 2009.

These demonstrations were performed in front of 25,000 spectators, including the President of the Rotary International, Mr. Dong Kurn Lee from South Korea; the President of South Korea, Lee Myung Bak; the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki Moon, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and a member of the Royal family.

There were also many other celebrities in attendance, and BBC television filmed the opening ceremonies.

Sheryl Freer - 4th Dan - was one of the people selected by the TAGB committee to perform in the demonstrations mentioned above.

Sheryl Freer trains under her Instructor (and husband) Mr. James Freer 6th Dan,and also teaches at her own club in Kirby Muxloe.

Mr. Freer was a flag bearer on the day.

Sheryl & James were meant to be celebrating their 1st wedding anniversary on the day of the demos – but plans were changed and Tae Kwon-do took over the day! Sheryl said "Tae Kwon-do is what we both do - if it wasn't for Tae Kwon-do we would never have met! So at least we'll be together on our anniversary - doing what we love most!!!"

Sheryl says: “Tae Kwon-do has given me a new lease of life! I've found something that I really enjoy doing, I’m a lot fitter and more confident than I’ve ever been, I have taught at my own club in Leicester Forest East for over 7 years with students now getting ready for their 2nd Dans ! I've competed in all competitions that the TAGB have put on over the years & become British, European & World Champion. And most of all - I've met my husband through Tae Kwon-do!!!! "
