COLOURED BELTS UP TO BLUE STRIPE
In order to be considered for a grading, a student must do no less than
12 training sessions or more between each grading - i.e. training twice
a week for 3 months.
If a student trains once a week - it will take 6 months to get 12 or
more training sessions in.
If a student misses too many training sessions then
they will have to wait for the next grading. Also some students need
more time to take in what is needed for each grading.
BLUE BELT UP TO RED BELT
The student needs to do no less than 24 training sessions in between
gradings - i.e. training twice a week for 6 months.
If a student is training once a week they should wait 12 months between
gradings.
Again some students need more time to pick things up towards their grading.
BLACK STRIPE
The student needs to train 3 to 4 times per week for 6 months or more.
Extra class available for patterns held on Friday nights 7.30-9.00pm
at Mountsorrel. (ask Instructor for details).
BLACK BELTS
Students must do as many training sessions as possible.
If a student misses a lot of training sessions then they will have to
wait an extra 6 months before their next grading.
1st Dan to 2nd Dan - 2 years
2nd Dan to 3rd Dan - 3 years
3rd Dan to 4th Dan - 4 years
4th Dan to 5th Dan - 5 years
For Juniors
Junior students (under 16) have to wait double the time of the adults
until they turn 16 yrs of age. Instead, juniors take a 'STAR GRADING'
every year up to the time they take their Dan grade.
All of the
gradings are down to your Instructor - not the student.
Everyone learns at different rates - some students take 3 months, some
take 6 or even 9 months between gradings. The important thing is that
we all reach our goal in the end. It is not a race - we have years of
training in Tae Kwon-do ahead of us.
Thank you, your Instructor - Mr James Freer
